Why Eurograde 1?

What is a Eurograde safe?

The Eurograde security system is a rating criterion used in Europe for high-grade safes used for commercial and residential settings. To receive a Eurograde rating, each safe must be evaluated according to EN 1143-2 criteria by a credible security organisation such as ECBs or VdS. This rigorous testing procedure is aimed at ensuring that the safe's contents are completely protected against theft and burglary. The safe is given a ranking between 0 and 7, with 7 being the maximum level of security attainable, after receiving Eurograde certification.  

How are Eurograde safes rated?

After passing the testing process and being deemed to meet the criteria of EN 1143-2, the safe is officially certified by Eurograde and given a rating from 0 to 7. This rating corresponds to the maximum value of the contents that the safe is allowed to hold. A Eurograde 0 safe, for example, can store a maximum of £6,000 in cash or contents valued up to £60,000. In comparison, a Eurograde 7 safe can carry a total of £250,000 in cash value or £2,500,000 in valuables. The higher the Eurograde rating required for your safety, the larger the value of the contents you need to secure.  

What determines the Eurograde rating?

All safes with Eurograde certification must, of course, be theft-resistant to some extent, with the rating assigned based on the total cash value of the contents. The Eurograde rating is based on the total resistance of the safe to forced entry. The more effort and time it takes to obtain access to a safe, the higher the Eurograde rating. Other tests, such as fire and water resistance, may be performed on the safes, but they are independent of the Eurograde certification procedure and do not affect the final rating.  

What level of Eurograde safe should I purchase?

A Eurograde 7 safe might appear to be the superior option because of its high-security rating, but this may be an unnecessary cost if you just have a few things to secure. Rather, determine the entire worth of your kept valuables and get a Eurograde safe with a rating that will cover that amount. Generally, higher-rated Eurograde safes are intended for commercial settings, and lower-rated safes are better suited for domestic use. While there may be exceptions to this rule, it is best to determine how much you need to safeguard before making a purchase.
